2 Dead Gary's - Pre-Event

[The waves of Ash's emotion bubble, roil, and crash across the murmur in a more frantic and disjointed feeling than the last time. When she speaks up she sounds dazed and tired, but she tries to force that down as much as she can.]

[Okay. That came out backwards. Cool and normal. Don't mind her. She gives her head a shake.]

So about those subway tunnels. Ozpin and I went down to investigate- And I think we can safely say Don't go down there. They're infested with hosts- Not safe.

We managed to get out of there- I might have gotten a little beat up, but we got out.

[She might be dealing with the after effects of that now.]

But since we got out I’ve been seeing flashes and memories from when… I guess when all this happened- I saw flashes of so many different people, and they were all so scared- Then they looked up at the moon, and they started to change.

I don’t know if some of this is on the murmur- One of the messages I heard was the same as the one Jayce found - It kept repeating I am the teeth of god, I ma eht theeet fo dog…

[And the wave of her emotions suddenly rile up again. They buzz like that for a moment, and there's a sensation like they're being soothed, or even muffled.

After a moment a different voice cuts in: Ozpin. He sounds weary, slightly strained, but his words come through steady and clear. ]

... As Ash said, the unground areas are extremely dangerous. The hosts in the subway stations awoke before we traveled more than a few meters from the stairs. They were single-minded in their pursuit of us, and there was no clear limit to their numbers.

I can't recommend that anyone else venture into the subway. But for whoever inevitably chooses to explore them regardless, know that the hosts did stop pursuing us after we retreated back up the stairs.

They're in the subways? [ Well, this was absolutely expected especially after all the movies he's seen, but he did also expect them to be further down.

Probably safe to say those are all the people that didn't have an underground bunker to escape to, then...

I've ran away from my fair share of zombie hordes before, but that was kind of crazy. Really missing my powers from back home.

[She considers that for a second.]

Assuming the shelters were actually safe at all.

That seems like a reasonable assessment.

I've been in the basements of several buildings, so it seems as though it's largely the subways.

[Urushihara said without thinking, noticeably recoiling from the image that his brain supplied- and the Murmur helpfully shared- of a poorly lit underground over loaded with trash and bioluminescent fungus.]

Why are you even going on the subway? Blocked on the sides, above, and below? Without an obvious exit point?

That's just asking for trouble. And it's gross!!!

[There's a delay before Ash comes back on, feeling a bit better to start responding.]

Okay. You're right about them being gross.

...But a bunch of the notes people have found mentioned going underground.

I thought we'd find like a bunker, not kick a hornets nest.

I'm afraid we didn't get as far as any of the subway cars themselves. This occurred at the entrance to the station.

Ah, yes, because alligators weren't problematic enough on their own; let's hope there's some mutated ones.

I definitely saw one in the crowd. It was this close to biting off Ozpin's leg. But he's got long dangly ones and the guy can run when he puts his mind to it.

I can't advise using explosives. I suspect you'll come up with something potent enough to collapse the entire city into the tunnels.

[While Ash's post brings a lot of unwelcome information that Ignis will take time to digest later--or not, he's not sure he wants to hear those "chants" she mentioned on repeat in the darkness he's stuck in--the first thing that springs to mind is worry.]

Pardon what might be an overstep considering we are only starting to know each other, but Ash, you do not sound all right.

[He's only spoken with Ash once before and doesn't know the Ozpin who went with her at all. Still, he does know the tendency for some people--himself--to hide the seriousness of their wounds. Ignis can't help but pry.]

Please be honest, how much is a little beat up?

How much is a little getting mauled by zombies!?

I got thrown around, bitten, scratched up, a little. But nothing was really broken, just some scrapes.

I'm maybe like a xis, neves out of ten?

I can assure you. While the situation was rather alarming at the time, we both managed to escape without any major injuries.

[ Of all things, the emotions that come through the Murmur the most are exasperation and amusement. ]

Ash and I both have a good deal of experience with such expeditions. I knew it was only a matter of time before someone tried, so I thought it was wisest that two professionals explore first.

[ That is, Ash was going no matter what and Ozpin figured it was easier to tag along than try to stop her. ]

Only one of us almost could have died.

Like why did we even bother going if we weren't going at least lose a limb.

It's interesting they stopped chasing once you reached the surface. I wonder if they have a weakness to sunlight once they succumb, or if they're guarding something down there?

Either is possible.

I feel like there are tons of places they could be hanging around where they wouldn't get caught out of the dark. So maybe guarding something is the name of the game.

[Well, that answers that question. Guess he's not going back down in there and so much for using the idea of folks using the train station as some kinda home base. Not that he'd want to pow wow with everyone there, but if there's a fucking infestation of those things just chilling down there right under it... bad idea.]

It might have been a little bit more fun if they were giant killer bees instead of weird dancing zombie people.

There are tons of subway entrances throughout town, knock yourself out if you want. Maybe they'll actually have the guts to rip your legs off and beat you with them.

They could be more hostile on a second visit.
